The single biggest mistake in men's wear is buying for a brand, not a fit. A perfectly-fitting $12 Peter England shirt looks better than a poorly-fitting $110 designer one. Before anything else: know your shoulder width, chest circumference, and torso length. Most men buy 1 size too large โ slim and tailored fits are now the default for most occasions.
Key body measurements to know before shopping:
Fabric content tells you more than any marketing claim. For everyday formal shirts, 100% cotton (preferably 2-ply or Giza) is the gold standard. For suits, look for wool content of 60%+ โ anything labelled "poly-wool" with under 30% wool will pill within a year. Raymond's worsted wools and Van Heusen's Italian-mill blends are reliably good.
For T-shirts, 180+ GSM cotton is the minimum for shape retention. Anything below feels like an undershirt after 5 washes.
Quality stitching has 8โ10 stitches per inch, even tension, no loose threads, and reinforced stress points (collar, shoulders, crotch, button holes). Quickly inspect any garment before checkout โ a 20-second check saves a 6-month regret.
Different brands excel at different things. Don't expect Roadster to make you a wedding sherwani, or Manyavar to make a soft-tailored Italian blazer. Our quick mental map:
A $30 Levi's 511 will outlast 4 pairs of $8 jeans โ and look better doing it. But a $180 designer T-shirt isn't 10ร better than an $18 U.S. Polo Assn. tee. Diminishing returns kick in fast after the premium-mass tier ($15โ$60 for most everyday items). Spend more on items you wear weekly (jeans, blazers, shoes), less on items you wear seasonally.
Even the best garment dies fast with bad care. Cold wash, don't tumble dry, button shirts before washing, fold knits instead of hanging them, dry-clean wool suits no more than 2ร a year. The right care can double the life of any garment โ saving real money over the wardrobe's lifetime.

The three principles that make our brand reviews different from everyone else's.
We buy and wear the products โ never gifted samples, never paid placements. We've spent $15,000+ on men's wear over the last 4 years for testing purposes alone.
Every brand gets a 0โ10 score on price-to-value โ not just absolute quality. The best brand isn't always the most expensive. We rank for the average shopper, not the luxury one.
We aggregate verified Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra reviews โ flagged for fake review patterns โ so you see brand reputation from real long-term users.
